What a great way to start 2017. Back to back papers with our collaborators at C3, Janet Newman and Tom Peat, in Acta Cryrstallographica Section F. One paper describes the structure of a putrescine aminotransferase and the other describes the structure of an acyl CoA forming malonate semialdehyde dehydrogenase.
Both enzymes are from Pseudomonas sp. strain AAC, a bacterial strain that is able to use the nylon 12 intermediate 12 amino dodecanoic acid as a sole nitrogen source. The putrescine aminotransferase was pretty enough to be used as the cover.
