Nice plant physiology paper from Sarah's PhD

November 27, 2016

Some great work has just been published in Frontiers in Plant Science:

Identification of Plastoglobules as a Site of Carotenoid Cleavage.  This work comes from Sarah's PhD in Felix Kessler's lab and describes the breakdown of plant pigments (carotenoids) in lipid bodies associated with the thykaloid membrane (i.e. plastoglobules) during natural leaf senescence. Carotenoids are responsible for many of the red and orange colours in nature, incluing the autumnal colours in leaves.
